Strange Blogging Habit

So if you look, it appears that I have a strange blogging habit where I don't post for a long time and then I do TONS of post on one day (or night). Tonight was no different. I hope you read them all!!

Who is Who?

So I was sort of tagged by my sister-in-law Leah. She did a post where she put pictures up of her kids at around the same age to see if we could figure out who was who in the pictures.

So I went looking on the computer for scanned copies of some of our "pre-digital" pictures. They aren't all of the same age but they are pretty close.

So what do you think? Who is Who?

Cookie Exchange Update

Hello Girls!!! I know that I still haven't gotten the invitations out but for those of you that visit my blog, the exchange is still on. I'm having two of them. One at 11:30am and another at 6:30pm. With all that has been going on in my life I got a late start on planning this thing so everyone is pretty booked but I hope that with offering two times, we can get everyone to make it.

The 11:30 one will have lunch served and the 6:30 will have snacks and goodies. You'll get the invites sometime on Monday.

Don't forget that it's either Cookies OR Candy. 12 dozen. YES, 12 dozen.

Please RSVP as soon as you can. Thanks!!!

Just for fun

I went to the Festival of Trees on Thursday night. It's the first time I've ever gone and I loved it. I loved seeing all the pretty trees and decorations. It's a great place to go for ideas.

Anyhow, while I was there I found some pretty fun things....like....

The Twilight Gingerbread House
Do you see Edward in the tree?

The Twilight Themed Trees

Of course there were more Twilight themed trees but I didn't get pictures of them. It was way fun!!

The Christmas Sweater

Last night my Mother-in-law and I went to see Glenn Beck's live Christmas Sweater Show. Amazing!!

Glenn Beck shared a personal story from his past along with a dream he had. He put it altogether so nicely and the message was very powerful. I loved it.

The strongest message that I walked away from the show with was that, we all go through storms, it's part of life and they help us grow. And no matter how hard or unbearable the storms might be, NO ONE has been lost to the storms they are in, instead they get lost IN the storm.

That message came at such a great time for me. I have been going through plenty of "life storms" and I've watched myself get lost in them instead of turning to my Heavenly Father and getting through them.

Thanks Glenn for putting on such a powerful show!!

Ouchie

So this morning while getting ready for Church I heard something hitting the floor upstairs. I knew what I heard wasn't good so I went running upstairs. Once I hit the stairs to head up I could hear my mom crying out in pain and the fear in my dads voice...

My mom fell down a whole flight of stairs. 14 stairs total.

911 was called and my mom was rushed to the hospital after a quick Priesthood blessing by Kimball and Brother Randell.

She's being made to stay overnight but some how she was lucky enough to not have broken any bones. She IS VERY black and blue all over her body. Lots of pulled muscles and knots. She will be sore for awhile but sore is better than broken...right!!!

No Black Friday For Me

So I've been reading all my friends blogs and it seems as if everyone goes shopping the day after Thanksgiving. It sounds fun but not something I've done. But after reading so much about how fun it is, I think I will make it an effort to go next year!!

Instead of shopping on Friday, I spent my whole day in my PJ's sitting on my couch signing "Santa" a million times. With Saturday being our first mailing of the Santa letters, I had to play catch up and sign "Santa Claus" on about 3000 items. The funny thing about this is that on Sunday I went to sign a tithing check and signed my name as "Santa Claus". Needless to say, I had to void that check out.

Pictures!!

So I thought I better post a few of the pictures I've taken (not that I've taken a lot). As this is my only form of journaling at this time in my life. :-)

This is my daddy rolling out pie crust
Justin, Kylee (Justin's girlfriend) and my Mom were peeling apples. As you can see, my mom cut herself which got her out of peeling apples!! :-)
The next couple of pictures are of Thanksgiving "Breakfast". Everyone came over bright and early. We had Swedish Pancakes, Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits, Ham, Potatoes and a Egg and Ham Roll!! Everything was yummy if I say so myself. I stayed up all night to pull it off and it was worth it...I think!! After breakfast we all headed out to the movie theatre to watch BOLT and it was soooo cute. If you haven't seen it, you should. Take your kids and enjoy another well done Disney movie!!

Tori and Austin (such a cute couple)
Jorgen and his girlfriend Kristal
Justin, Josh, Jeremy, Daddy, Mom, Marv and Doris
Thanksgiving Dinner itself. I wish I had more pictures...
maybe someday I'll get better at taking pictures.

Thansgiving Day Graphics

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

Blissfully Domestic

As most of you know Justin is going to Italy on an educational tour and I'll be going with him. To do this he's been doing some fundraising. The latest fundraiser was a Thanksgiving Day Pie sale.

Justin only sold 7 pies and well his girl friend sold like 40 pies. So the last two days have been spent in the kitchen. With the help of my parents we have made:

* 19 pumpkin pie
* 9 apple pies
* 14 pecan pies
* 5 Lemon Meringue
* 5 Banana Cream
* 8 Chocolate Cream
* 2 Carmel Apple

So with all those pies, planning Thanksgiving dinner and Thanksgiving Breakfast I am feeling "Blissfully Domestic"

I hope that you are all feeling as domestic as I am and having fun with it. I promise to write more about being blissfully domestic in a future post!!

Thanksgiving Funny

I just had to share this cartoon with you all. I laughed when I saw it and well I needed a laugh. Enjoy!!

The Bachelor

I am coming out of my skin with excitement and I don't know who would even care so I don't know who to call so I'll just share my excitement on my blog.

I LOVE the reality show "The Bachelor" When it's on I record it every week and sit and watch it late at night after the kids are asleep.

This past season was "The Bachelorette" instead of The Bachelor and well as much as I liked DeAnna, I thought she picked the wrong guy and I was right (they broke up). I really liked Jason and Jeremy and had hoped that she would have picked one of them but she didn't.

Well ladies, guess what???

Jason's our next Bachelor!!!! I feel like dancing.

The Season Premier is Monday January 5, 2009. Anyone up for a weekly Bachelor watching party after the kids have gone down to bed??? :-)

Memory Tag

1) Add a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2) Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Awesome News!!

In case you haven't read or heard about it yet...here is some news that we have all been waiting for. [source: Summit Entertainment (summit-ent.com)]

TWILIGHT SEQUEL - NEW MOON

Los Angeles, CA November 22, 2008 — Summit Entertainment announced today that the studio is officially moving forward with the production of NEW MOON, the second installment of its filmed franchise TWILIGHT, the action-packed, modern day vampire love story. The movie will be based on the second novel in author Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series titled, New Moon. The first movie in the TWILIGHT franchise, the self-titled TWILIGHT, arrived in theaters this weekend to sold-out showings.

Stephenie Meyer stated, "I don't think any other author has had a more positive experience with the makers of her movie adaptation than I have had with Summit Entertainment. I'm thrilled to have the chance to work with them again on NEW MOON."

So it looks like another Girls Night Out!!

Twilight

So Twilight "the movie" came out on Thursday Night/Friday Morning and I LOVED IT !! I got to see it twice and loved it more the second time around so anyone that hasn't seen it, SEE IT, and for those of you that have just seen it once, see it AGAIN, it will be well worth it. :-)

I thought they did a great job on the casting of the movie. I say that now, even though before the movie was released I thought the pick for Edward was horrible. Edward grows on you BIG time and before the end of the movie I was sold.

Any Jacob fans might want to skip this next paragraph...

When I read the Twilight series I had a vision of Jacob being...well...hmmm...UGLY!! (told you not to read if you're a Jacob fan) Yup, I said it. I really thought he was ugly and well...they did the BEST job casting him. (stop reading if you don't like it!) I so think the actor playing the role of Jacob fits my vision of what Jacob should look like...So not my type!! I know a lot of people think that the actor that plays the character is good looking but I just can't see it.

Anyhow, for the 2:45am showing of Twilight there were a total of 15 of us!!! Two of my old Laurels and their friends came, my sister-in-law Tori and her husband Austin came and then there was our little "girl" group that consisted of Me, Danielle, Laura, Emily & Amber. What a blast!!

We planned to meet for breakfast before the movie and had a very interesting time finding a place. Ihop (closed) drove to Village Inn (closed), drove to another Village Inn (closing in 20 minutes) and then finally Denny's. We were so excited that it was open. I'm not a huge fan of Denny's but I sure liked their French Toast, you should give it a try sometime.

We got to the theatre just as 20 sold out showings ended!! It was so packed and a madhouse inside and out of the theatre. The craziness of it all just sort of excited me even more.

We had fun with our "pre-show" entertainment...

We had footie pj's

We had Blankets...
And best yet...Tutu's...

Now I know that all the girls thought the whole tutu thing was funny but I don't think they enjoyed it as much as Amber and myself did. She took all these great pictures of it all. It was such a hoot.

Here is a picture of us girls!!

Here are pictures from the second showing that I went to. At the second showing, Amy Braithwaite, her sister Miranda, my mom, Justin, his girlfriend Kylee and Kylees mom Shelly went. We went to Applebees for dinner but I didn't get pictures of that. By the way, Justin hated the movie!!! BOYS :-)

Anyhow, go see the movie if you haven't yet and for those that have, do it again because it will be well worth it. Heck...I'm going to see it again myself. :-)

Carrie Underwood Concert

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!

So last night I went to the Carrie Underwood Concert and let me just say: "It was so amazing!" She is so cute and such a fun sweet girl. Besides the fact that she sung a few "rock" songs that I didn't like (and that aren't on her albums) everything was perfect!!

I took some pictures but they didn't turn out very good, but here you go anyway.

Carrie Underwood

I am so excited to be going to the Carrie Underwood Concert this Wednesday. I absolutely LOVE her. She doesn't just sing very well, she is beautiful and she tops it off with being down to earth (at least that is what I've read).

I hope I remember to bring my camera so I can post pictures of the concert. I think it's going to be a blast. I haven't been to a country music concert forever, actually I've only been to one other and it was Garth Brooks and that was amazing!!

Anywhoooo, I have to add that Carrie Underwood is on my top five most beautiful people in the world list!! I wouldn't mind looking a whole lot like her. :)

The Twilight Movie

I had a "blogger" friend comment on my "Where has time gone" post saying that she thought I was stocking up on sleep for the Twilight movie that is coming out this coming weekend. Well, I sure haven't stocked up on any sleep but I AM going opening night!!!

I have been waiting for this movie since the first day that I heard that it was being made. I LOVE this series and I'm dying to see how they can put the emotions that you get from the book, into a movie.

Anyhow, I was getting online each night and checking to see if they had posted the pre-ordering of the tickets for the opening night, which is this coming Thursday at 11:59pm (Basically Friday). So each day I would check and nothing. A couple of weeks ago I had logged on after church to just check and oh my goodness...ALL 20 screens were sold out. Yes, SOLD OUT. I was so mad and just couldn't believe it. I kept hitting the refresh screen in hopes of something, I don't know what, but anything to happen as I sat and pouted. Then all of a sudden, there it was....... A 2:45 AM showing!! You read that right, 2:45am showing and guess what? That's right, I'm going. I started calling my friends and seven of us are going to that early morning showing.

It gets better though!! Some of my friends couldn't go at 2:45am showing so I also got tickets for the 10:40pm Friday night showing as well!! I get to go TWICE in a 24 hour period. I'm way excited.

So Nicole, to answer your question: No, I haven't been stocking up on sleep for the twilight movie and I probably should but even if I'm sleep deprived I know that I'll enjoy this movie and there is NO CHANCE of me falling asleep.

The Cutest Blog

I have to give a huge shout out to Ashley. Ashley is the sweet girl at thecutestblogontheblock.com. She's the one that always comes up with such great designs for my blog. I have tried to create my own backgrounds and I've come up with some cute ones but I'm never happy with my own work and then there is the part of it taking me a full day to design something. With Ashley, I simply send her an email and my log in info and she sends me an email with a mock-up design and how much I owe. Once I pay, she can usually have my fun new design up within a day!!

I'm sure most of you have used thecutestblogontheblock.com for your background on your blog but if you've ever wanted someone to do all the "extras" you might want to consider shooting Ashley an email.

Thanks again Ashley!!

Where has time gone?

So here it is, already Nov, just weeks from Thanksgiving and Christmas is just a hair over a month away and I'm so far behind that I don't know if I'll ever catch up. With that said I wanted everyone to know that I AM trying. I'm hoping to get my blog updated!!

Just to give you an idea of what has been going on in my life, let me share:

1) Moved my parents from California to Utah.

2) Fundraising, fundraising, fundraising.

3) Programming, Programming, Programming.

4) Designing, Designing, Designing.

5) Teaching, Teaching, Teaching.

And then of course there is the parenting, mothering, housekeeping and trying to be a good wife, partner and best friend.

Anyhow...I promise, more to come!!

Back to School

I'm almost sad that the new school year has already started. This summer was just way too short and even though we all stayed busy we didn't get to do half the things we had wanted to do. But I have always loved seeing my kids happy faces as they head off to school on the first day.

Preston and William attend Harvest Hills Elementary. The bus stop is right on the corner of our home so they don't have far to walk. They looked so cute and handsome as they headed out.

William is now in the 1st grade and his teachers name is Mrs Richins. She is, as William puts it "very old" and he's right. She's a much older teacher than most but she is awesome and I think she will be good for William. William loves her already and he says "My teacher loves me because I'm a good boy and I always raise my hand before talking. I know we will get along." His first words as he came home from school was "I had a really good day today and I think I can handle this 1st grade stuff".

He's so cute and so much fun. He already knows how many girls are in his class and which ones are cute!

Preston is already in the 5th grade and he got his first male teacher and that is exciting for him. His teachers name is Mr Fretwell. He thinks he's a good teacher and you can read more about that on Prestons blog

Preston is now officially the "big brother" at the school. I think this is good for him and I know he's enjoying that role.

Collin, Joshua and Justin all go to Rockwell Charter High School. It's a rigorous college-preparatory, liberal arts high school that has 7th - 12th graders. The 7th - 9th are in the Jr Hall and the 10th - 12th are in the Sr Hall. The boys LOVE IT. I was so worried because Joshua and Collin weren't happy about me putting them in this school because they didn't want to leave their friends. Justin was ok with it because his girl friend was attending the school. But I'm happy to report that the boys are very happy and I haven't seen this kind of excitement from the boys about school in years.

Justin is in 10th grade
Joshua is in 9th grade
Collin is in 7th grade

Justin gets to leave campus during lunch, which he loves. He's also excited about getting to drive to school once he gets his license just after the first of the year. I'm excited too because I won't have to drive them all the way out there. :)

All three of the boys are taking Mandarin Chinese as their foreign language. 7th graders are not allowed to take the class but the schools Director gave special permission for Collin to take the class because his brothers were and because Kimball knows it and can help them at home. Collin feels all grown up!

With it being a college-preparatory school, their going to be busy this year but I'm sure it will pay off in the long run. We have given the boys the challenge again to get a 4.0 for the full year. I'll keep you all posted on that one!!

I would post pictures of all the kids but they didn't turn out, not even a little. I really need to take a photo taking class!!

Happy Birthday Collin!

So Collin Turned 12 years old today. I can't believe that he's already old enough to be in Young Mens and to pass the sacrament.

Collin is my Blue Eyed, helpful, very bright and very loving third son. He was excited to have Kaylee added to the family because he was no longer a "middle child" but one of the older three!!

I'm very proud of Collin, for the friends he keeps, the desire he has to do what is right and for his helpfulness at all times.

Happy Happy Birthday Collin. I love you So Very Much.

Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Today is my Daddy's 60th Birthday. I came out to California to spend the day with him and to throw him a little party. It was really enjoyable and I've enjoyed spending the time with him and family.

As hard as it might be to adequately describe just how special and wonderful my dad is, I'm still going to give it a try...

I love my daddy so much. He really is the best dad I could have ever ask for. My dad has always believed in me and always told me that I could do and be anything I ever wanted to be. To this day my dad is probably the only person that has had complete faith in me and in the decisions that I've made. He has always been my biggest fan, something that every girl/daughter needs. Even to this day my dad tells me that he knows without a doubt that I'm going to do great things. He often tells me "If anyone could do it, you're that person", when I tell him some of my business ideas and dreams.

I truly believe that if I hadn't had my dad while growing up I would have turned out like 99.99% of the kids that grew up on our side of town. I grew up in a very poor, rough and shady area of town that was full of violence and drugs. My dad protected me from those things. I might not have appreciated those things while growing up but I sure do appreciate it now.

My dad is also an AWESOME grandfather and I have six kids to second that. My kids adore their grandpa. My dad makes sure to pay attention to the kids' interest and likes. He likes to talk to them, hang with them and do things with and for them. I'm so glad my kids have their grandpa in their life.

My dad has shown me, my husband and my kids a great example of love by loving and honoring my mom. Even while traveling the rough road that they have been dealt off and on all their married life, my dad has loved my mom. He treats her well and would do anything for her. Every man should love their wife in this way...Through thick and thin, fire and ice or health and sickness.

As you can see, my dad is awesome!

Happy Happy Birthday Daddy!! I love you more than you probably realize. I wish you many many more birthdays. Thanks for being the best dad ever and for believing in me and being there for me when I've needed you.

I Love You Daddy!

I Liked It!

William is so funny. He's got a thing for girls.

Last week Justin's girl friend came to visit and William wouldn't leave them alone. He followed Justin and Kylee all over the house, talking away with Kylee. Once Kylee left William went downstairs to tell Justin something...

Here's how the conversation went(according to Justin & Collin):

William - "Justin, you know what?"
Justin - "What?"
William - "Well, ummmm. Well, ummmm. hmmmm"
Justin - "WHAT William?"
William - "You know what, ummmm, your girl friend is HOT!!"

After the boys told me about this I asked William "So William, Justin told me something..." and before I could say anything William interrupts with "I can't help it mom, she IS hot. I like her."

Well on Saturday Julie came over to help Dave move his stuff out. While I was at the store Dave and Julie went to leave. Apparently William asked Julie for a kiss and then went on to explain that he really liked it. When I got home from the store William was on the phone talking to??? You guessed it, Julie. He called Uncle Dave and asked to talk to Julie. LOL

When William hung up the phone I asked him who he was on the phone with and he said "Just Julie. I like her." His brothers started telling me about William asking for a kiss and William's faces got all smiley and he says "ya and I liked it!!

Let me remind you that he's only SIX YEARS OLD. I'm going to have to keep a close eye on William, that's for sure, because he might like the girls but the girls sure like him just as much.

*smiles*

Stephanie Meyer

This is a huge shout out to Stephenie Meyer. I'm amazed with her ability to write the way she does. Her words flow and you do feel all the emotions of the characters she writes about. I did my fair share of crying through the book. I am very HAPPY with the ending but I won't go into details just in case someone hasn't read it yet!!!

Thanks Stephenie For an amazing read. I look forward to reading any and all books you write.

It's Finally Here

So yesterday morning I went over to Barnes and Nobles at 9:30 am to get my wristband. The wristband meant I could get my book at 12:01am when it was officially released to the public. Holy Cow!!!!!! The line was wrapped the front, side and back of the store. People had slept out overnight to be sure they got their wristbands. Luckily one of my Laurels was further up in line and a Barnes and Nobles manager said that Kristy (my Laurel) could pick up my wristband for me. This made it so Kimball and I could still make it to the Temple to do a session.

Anyhow my friend Amy and I left at 9 pm to head to the pre-release party and to get our book. Double Holy Cow!!!! There were so many people there that you couldn't even walk around the store. But the amount of people outside was even more overwhelming. I would have to guess that there were at least 2000 to 2500 people in line to get that book. Luckily we got wristbands for group E and by 12:38am we had purchased our books and headed home. YA!!!!

After a detour to pick Josh and his friends up from the Batman Movie I got home to start reading. But I got sick and went to bed. It's all good now though. I'm feeling good and after this post I will temporarily stop being mommy, wife, mentor, friend. I will just be a happy cloud of happiness reading my book. I'll let you know if I liked it later.

Oh, and it's 754 pages...It's 9:44am on August 2nd. Lets see how long it takes me to read the whole book!!!

We're Going to miss Uncle Dave

When David came home from his mission in the Philippines he came to live with us. That's been just a few days short of a full year. Boy how time flies! We have enjoyed every minute that he's lived here.

Dave works in Orem, Goes to school in Orem and dates Julie who lives in Orem so rooming with his friends in Orem is his plan. We are sure going to miss having him here.

The boys will miss...
*Roughhousing with him.
*Watching Simpsons with him(behind my back).
*Chatting and Hanging out with him.

William will miss...
*Trying to be like him.
*Hitting on his girlfriends!!

Kaylee will miss...
*Going into his room looking for gum.
*Sitting with him to watch TV.
*Eating breakfast with him.

I think Kaylee will miss him the most. She likes looking for him. She usually asks me at least once a day "Where's uncle David?" She's too cute.

Kimball and I will miss him too, we'll even miss his messy room!! *Smiles*

Good Luck Dave!!

Grab a Box of Kleenex

My sister-in-law Leah asked me about the link I have on my site for A Daily Scoop. I actually have no idea how I stumbled across her website but I am truly grateful that I did. Going to her website is one of the first things I do when I get online each morning because Stephanie inspires me.

I am humbled by Stephanie Waite and I find myself totally in awe of her strength and complete love of the Lord that is so manifested through her testimony. Her testimony is strong and her love for the Lord is displayed even while she deals with the tragic death of her daughter.

Stephanie, certainly does not hide the fact that she is heart-broken, but she continues to remain strong. Her pain is a pain that that I hope and pray I never have to experience but if I do I pray that I will stand as strong in my faith as she does.

I encourage you to visit her site adailyscoop.blogspot.com and read her story. I'm sure that when you do you will come to want a stronger relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Warning: Make sure you have a good supply of Kleenex when you start reading her story!!

It Just Feels Good!

I was *tagged* the other day and it was posted on my old blog. One of the questions was what are 3 of my joys. Here was my answer:

3 Joys
*Being married to my best friend!
*Knowing that my family is eternal and I can be with my husband and kids forever.
*A Clean House

My kids usually give me a hard time about always wanting the house clean. They poop off with things like ... it doesn't make sense to them and that it's not "that bad" and that "no one elses house is this clean in the whole neighborhood." I of course couldn't careless about anyone elses house, I'm just worried about my own home and feeling comfortable in it.

Well tonight Justin and Josh got back from a friends house and they both stated that having a clean house was actually "nice". They told me that they're grateful that they've never felt embarrassed to have their friends come over to hang out. They went on to explain that they've finally figured out why all their friends liked hanging out at our house...It's because many of their friends are "embarrassed" by their own homes and they liked how comfortable it was here. Finally some of my kids get it. It feels good to get your kids on your side. :)

Which Princess are you?

A client of mine sent this quiz to me and I thought, "why not, I'll give it a try" and guess what?

I'm Cinderella!

Dignified and hard working. With a gentle and soft-spoken manner you have something many people don't. Patience. Even through the moments of heartbreak you're still able to hold onto all of your hopes and dreams. Bide your time; your dream will come true.

Which Disney Princess Are You?

This couldn't be more untrue! I do love Cinderella and she is one of my most favorite Princesses but I literally laughed out loud when it said that I have patience. I seriously lack patience. I honestly do try on a regular basis to work on becoming more patient but I'm no way near there yet. It takes a lot of effort on my part! Oh and soft-spoken is another thing that I'm so not. I'm trying hard on that one too. Someday though, I WILL be Cinderella!!!

Let me know what Princess you are!

July 2008

I know that July has long come and gone but so much happened in July that I would hate to not post a little something on what happened. Let's not forget that I'm horrible at journal writing so if I don't post it here, it probably won't be remembered :)

July 1, 2008 was an amazing day. Kaylee was sealed to our family. In our church we can be sealed to our families so they can be together forever.

Kaylee was beautiful and behaved so well in the Temple and sealing room. We had an amazing sealer who shared with us that his wife had just recently passed away. He told us that he wasn't sad because he knew that he treated her well while she was here on earth and that she will be waiting for him on the other side. You could hear his pure love for his wife as he spoke. He also shared with us that he had 14 children and 104 grandchildren. O MY, that is a ton of grandkids. I have 6 kids, does that mean that there's a chance I could have 50 grandkids????

Anyhow, Kaylee did well in the Temple but boy she sure didn't want anyone taking pictures of her once we got out of the temple. Even so, we got a few good pictures.
